    7 Days/6 Nights Argolis-Olympia-Delphi-Meteora

    Day 1: Arrival day

    Arrival at Athens International Airport. Transfer to Athens city center hotel.

    Overnight in Athens.

    Day 2: Athens - Corinth Canal - Epidaurus - Mycenae – Nafplion (approx. 220 km)

    Breakfast at hotel. (Estimated duration: 8-10 hours: 08:00-18:00)

    A modern highway takes us out of Athens, towards the area of the Peloponnese. A stop will be made near the spectacular Corinth Canal. From there, on to Epidaurus, most renowned for its ancient theater and home of the sanctuary of Asclepius, God of medicine. From Epidaurus, we will drive to Mycenae, where the kingdom of Agamemnon is expecting to proudly boast its remains, excavated by Heinrich Schliemann in 1874. Continue to Nafplion.

    Day 3: Nafplion – Olympia (approx. 180 km)

    Breakfast at hotel. (Estimated duration: 8-10 hours: 08:00-18:00)

    After breakfast, we head to the sacred land of Olympia. The ancient Olympics will come alive, as we will walk among the numerous trees, and discover monuments like the training areas (Gymnasium and Palaestra), the Philippeion, the Temple of Hera, the legendary Stadium, and the Temple of Zeus, which once housed one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the gold and ivory statue of Zeus.

    Day 4: Olympia – Delphi (approx. 240 km)

    Breakfast at hotel (Estimated duration: 8-10 hours: 08:00-18:00)

    In the morning visit of the local museum in Olympia, where we will admire the masterpieces excavated in the site: The statues of the pediment of the Temple of Zeus, the marble Nike of Paionios, and the highlight of the museum, the marble statue of God Hermes, created by the sculptor Praxiteles. Our tour continues to Delphi site. En route we will have the opportunity to visit many traditional and picturesque villages.

    Day 5: Delphi – Meteora (approx. 240 km)

    Breakfast at hotel. (Estimated duration: 8-10 hours: 08:00-18:00)

    Built on the slopes of mount Parnassus, Delphi was considered to be the centre of the world in the ancient times. As we approach the site, we see the impressive rocks of the Phaidriades overlook the monuments and the Temple of Apollo. The Sacred Way will also take us to the Treasury of Siphnos, the Treasury of Athens, and the Theatre. From there, we will enjoy beautiful views to the valley below, where lies the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia. The tour will continue with the visit of the Museum. Our tour continues to Meteora famous for its monasteries.

    Overnight in Kalambaka.

    Day 6: Meteora – Athens (approx. 360 km)

    Breakfast at hotel. (Estimated duration: 8-10 hours: 08:00-18:00).

    Morning departure the northern town of Kalambaka to visit the marvellous monasteries of Meteora. Atop gray-rock pinnacles jutting some 2,000 ft/600 m in the air (Meteora means "hanging between Heaven and Earth"), these 11th-century religious centers contain ancient manuscripts, ornate icons and Byzantine artifacts. Spend the day in the area and visit at least one of the four or five monasteries still in use (there were originally 24). We suggest seeing Megalo Meteoro or Varlaam Monastery. In the late evening journey back to Athens.

    Important note: In Monasteries male visitors are required to wear long pants; women have to cover their arms and legs.

    Day 7: Departure Day

    Breakfast at hotel.
    Transfer to Athens International Airport. End of service.
